Top tips for the Premier League title

The race for Premier League honours is hitting the home stretch and it’s a two team race for the title, as at present Manchester City lead city rivals United by just two points, with third placed Tottenham 11 points adrift.

As a result the difference between second and third is reflected in the overall odds given by casino sites and bookmakers on who will eventually be crowned league champions. Let’s take a deeper look at the odds.

With their haul of 66 points, City currently have the best odds to take the Premier League title, as they’re at 4/6 to win on most sites offering odds. This means that for every £6 bet on the team, a winning bet would pay out £4, as teams that are favoured to win will typically pay the least overall on their bets.

United sit close behind with 64 points and are currently drawing around even money odds. Some are offering 11/10, but with even money bets, a winning punt on Alex Ferguson’s side would pay £11 for every £10 bet and even money would pay £1 for every £1 bet.

The remaining league teams are at this point considered longshot-bets to win the title, but the best of the rest is currently third placed Spurs. With that said, they are between 150/1 to 250/1 to win with most bookies. Fourth placed Arsenal are sitting at 400/1 on most sites and at this point, most oddsmakers feel they have little or no chance to win the title.

In addition to betting on who will win the Premier League, you can also bet on other outcomes, such as the league’s top goalscorer, the PFA Player of the Year and even who will be the next manager to leave their position. At present, Arsenal’s Robin van Persie has the best odds to win both the top goalscorer award and take the PFA Player of the Year honour. Meanwhile, Aston Villa manager, Alex McLeish, is the odds on favourite to be the next manager to leave his post with odds of 11/4.

Everyone from Gamblingplanet to ESPN share the similar opinion that it really is a two team title race. Spurs are the only side with an outside chance, but their window of opportunity is almost closed. As for who to pick between City and United, odds suggest City are the best choice, but there is still plenty of time for all that to change, so you might want to get your bets in now for the best odds.
