CITY! A club in crisis
Filmed in 1980-81, this Granada documentary is a fantastically voyeuristic look at a struggling Manchester City marooned in the wrong half of the old Division One.
Featuring a level of dressing room access unseen today, meetings between the chairman Peter Swales and manager Malcolm Allison and even John Bond’s interview for the job later in the season, this is a fascinating peak into the workings of a club prior to footballs merger with pop culture.
“Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry! Tony Henry!”
